The DC-8, T-39, and ER-2 flew a coordinated mission over Iowa and Wisconsin, west of Lake Michigan, to sample the cirrus anvil outflow of a mesoscale The T-39 sampled the DC-8 exhaust/contrail on the way out. The ER-2 followed the DC-8 40 miles back into the outflow area, and measured cirrus, and commercial, contrails in the vicinity of the DC-8 in-situ ts. Measurements were coordinated with the NOAA-14 satellite overpass at 1930 UTC.
