KWAJEX FLIGHT INFORMATION

There are two primary means of travel between Honolulu and Kwajalein. One is via
Continental Airlines, and the other is via Air Mobility Command (AMC) military
transportation.

The flight schedules for Continental and AMC are as follows:

To make reservations on Continental:
Call Continental Airlines Meeting Works at : 1-800-468-7022. When you call to make reservations, state that you are with TRMM/Kwajex, and give the following reference number: JZ75Z1. Special "Zone fares" available for Kwajex: - $1500 RT Anywhere in US <-> Kwajalein - $1400 RT LA <-> Kwajalein - $ 900 RT Honolulu <-> Kwajalein The project office wants to track progress that’s being made in obtaining reservations. Once you have made your reservations, please send flight schedule information to Carl Sweetland and Wendy Dolci at all three of the following addresses: carlswee@airnet.net, SweetlaC@smdc.army.mil, wdolci@mail.arc.nasa.gov Notes about travel on Continental: Travel orders are not required. However, you MUST have an approved Entry Authorization Form to visit Kwajalein. The project office will issue the approved forms prior to your departure, via fax. Do not leave for your trip to Kwajalein without an approved Entry Authorization Form. It is recommended that you carry several copies of your approved Entry Authorization Form with you to Kwajalein.

Do not leave for your trip to Kwajalein without an approved Entry Authorization Form. It is recommended that you carry several copies of your approved Entry Authorization Form with you to Kwajalein.

Travel on AMC will be managed "and paid for" through the NASA Ames Project Office. The following information is needed in order to make reservations and fly on AMC: Name: Date of arrival on Kwajalein: Date of departure from Kwajalein: Name of next of kin: Address of next of kin: Next of kin phone number: Relationship to traveler: To request flights on AMC, please provide this information to Carl Sweetland and Wendy Dolci at all three of the following addresses: carlswee@airnet.net, SweetlaC@smdc.army.mil, wdolci@mail.arc.nasa.gov. The project office will be obtaining reservations on AMC and will inform you when the reservations have been made. NOTES about travel on AMC: The cost of a one-way ticket on AMC is $538. AMC operates on a "soft" schedule. Arrival and departure times will vary to meet mission requirements. Open-toed shoes, high-heeled shoes, and sandals are not allowed on AMC flights. Two checked-in bags per person are allowed. Carry-on baggage is limited to one item no larger than 19x13x12 inches. Additional bags may be allowed, at extra cost; arrangements for extra bags must be made in advance. In addition to an approved Entry Authorization Form for Kwajalein, travel orders are required for AMC flights. The project office will issue travel orders (via fax) to all AMC travelers. It is recommended that six copies of your travel orders and approved Entry Authorization Form be carried with you on the trip. There is a remote possibility that AMC flight schedules will be affected by the mission underway in Kosovo. Any new information or news about AMC flights will be posted at this location on the Kwajex web site. As stated above, travel on AMC will be managed and funded through the NASA Ames Project Office, as there is no mechanism for individuals to make reservations or pay for the flights directly. For those funded under TRMM grants - you may travel on AMC and the flights will be billed to the Kwajex Project Office. The TRMM program office will be tracking AMC flight expenses and will account for the expense to your TRMM grant at a later date. Follow the instructions above for requesting reservations.
