Objectives:  

Today’s mission was intended to be a coordinated underflight of the AQUA satellite at 1827 
GMT over the western Bahamas, and was to involve both the ER-2 and Proteus aircraft.


Summary: 

Due to failure of a starter/generator for its left engine, the Proteus aircraft 
participation in this mission was cancelled.  The Scaled Composites crew worked very hard to 
troubleshoot the failure, locate and obtain replacement hardware, and ready the aircraft for 
flight by late the next morning.
